Dear Members & Friends,
Due to the outbreak of the contagious coronavirus (COVID-19), the Elders and Deacons have decided to cancel services at CPCC for two Sundays, March 15th and 22nd. This decision is based on careful consideration of the health risks to our members, as well as the guidelines from our governmental leaders.
Please join me in praying for all those directly affected by this virus, for all the care-givers, and for our leaders during this very challenging time. These are days to be more prayerful, and for believers to draw nearer to their Lord. These are also days of opportunity for the gospel, as our neighbors struggle with fear and the future.
I plan to put online a special sermon — “Fear Not Little Flock” (Luke 12:32) — and pastoral prayer on our church website (www.cliftonparkcommunitychurch.org) with links placed on Facebook and in emails. Please watch, post a comment, and share it with others. Make an effort to worship the Lord even at home: read aloud from the Bible, prayer with each other, and sing! If you don’t have a hymnal at home, find the lyrics online (eg, www.hymnlyrics.org). These rich expressions of faith, sung out loud, will bring joy to your heart, and please our Father in heaven.
While staying home and practicing “social-distancing” will help slow the spread of this virus, isolation also has spiritual dangers. Believers need each other. Lord-willing we will gather again on March 29th for worship. This week, however, please pick up your phone and call one another; send letters and emails too.
Yours by divine mercy,
Pastor David Bissett
I lift up my eyes to the hills. From where does my help come? My help comes from the LORD, who made heaven and earth. He will not let your foot be moved; he who keeps you will not slumber. Behold, he who keeps Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. The LORD is your keeper; the LORD is your shade on your right hand. The sun shall not strike you by day, nor the moon by night. The LORD will keep you from all evil; he will keep your life. The LORD will keep your going out and your coming in from this time forth and forevermore.
~ Psalm 121 ESV
