Each new year invites us to seek a stronger grip on our use of prayer! Prayer Week begins with a powerful sermon from God's Word. This year Dr Andrew Smith will preach on Bowed Knees Before the Father, from Ephesians 3:14-21. [UPDATE: this sermon is now online HERE.] Andrew Smith is Pastor-Teacher at Christ Reformed Community Church near Jacksonville, FL, which he helped plant in 2015. Raised in West Virginia, he was saved and called to preach at an early age, and began preaching as a teenager. He has an M.Div. from Southern Seminary, and recently completed a D.Min. at the Master's Seminary, working under Dr. John MacArthur and Steve Lawson. He is also a founder of The Society for Expository Preaching. Andrew and his wife, Corie, have five children: Gracie, Jackson, Preston, Coplen, and Calvin
Dr Smith will also teach a special Sunday School Class in the Fireside Room, on the practice of praying, and take time to answer your questions.
On January 27th, we will have our annual “CONCERT OF PRAYER” at 6:00 PM. Using several 6-8 minute thematic segments, this is a powerful way to pray.
Monday through Friday, we have a nightly prayer meeting (7-8:15 PM) led by an Elder in someone’s home, as well as one midday meeting. These begin with a devotional from God’s Word, then requests are shared and conversational praying begins.(Note: praying aloud is our practice, but it is never required of anyone attending any meeting).
On Saturday, at 9 AM, we’ll gather in the Fireside Room for a Prayer & Praise Breakfast where testimonies and answers to prayer from our week together are shared — and a final time of praying takes place — all after we enjoy a hot breakfast by a warm fireplace.
May the Lord again open our eyes to the power, privilege and potential of prayer at CPCC throughout our "Prayer Week 2019."
